Question for Historical Romance Readers
I'm looking for any book that has a plot where an innocent gets involved with a scoundrel and the scoundrel ISN'T redeemed; he loves her and melts with her, but is still an ass with others basically. I'm not sure if such a book has been written, but I was reading one that seemed to go in that direction and I loved it, but then he was totally redeemed and heroic and there was deep, pyschological reasons for his scoundrel ways.

So does anyone know of a book with a plot like that?

I read Devil in Winter; that may have actually been the book I was talking about -- did he basically save a casino?

I'll check out the Geogette Heyer books. Thanks.

Anne Stuart's heroes tend to stay pretty asshole-y to the very end. She can get a little dark, though. She has some older historical romances, before she went all romantic suspense.

I'm not a romantic suspense fan (which is weird, because I like romance and I like suspense, but most together, I can't stand.) I'll check out her early stuff. Thanks.
