30 Day Love-Meme, Day 16
Day 16 - What is the absolute worst pairing?

Leonard and Penny (Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco), The Big Bang Theory

I'm beating a dead horse here, but I genuinely believe that Leonard and Penny are *the* worst pairing EVER. Every other pairing (be it movie, book or television), I can see the why, there are moments, I understand why they have fans even if I don't see it, but these two? Nada, nothing, zilch. In my opinion, absolutely NOTHING about them works as a romantic pair. N-O-T-H-I-N-G!

I'm not invested in BBT in any way and have only seen sporadic episodes, but GOD SERIOUSLY. No chemistry at all and weirdly condescending and gross.

They just do not work in any way. And it breaks my heart because the show surrounding them is probably my favorite comedy of all time, but whenever they push these two (and they will not stop), everything just goes flat and stale.

The first few episodes of the show I was feeling it, maybe because the show was new and I wasn't as invested, but as the seasons go on, not feeling it in any shape, form or manner. You are not alone :)

They're so, so, so terrible. In fact, partly why I was so okay with Stefan/Elena through season one is because my main show before TVD was TBBT, and the contrast between the main couples? Well, let's just say that comparatively, Stefan and Elena were fantastic!

Even though Stefan/Elena are not a ship of mine, they are so much better than the pairing of Leonard and Penny. Every time they come on screen I cringe.

Yes, this. So very, very much.

Totally agree. Initially it was cute, the whole dork in love with the hottie next door. Now it is just annoying. No chemistry at all.

Yeah, I was okay with them the first season (the first time I watched it), but just that: Okay. I never thought they were beyond slightly cute or aww-worthy or had any chemistry. Now, I loathe them as a pairing.

I agree with you entirely on this point. Time and time again they've shown Leonard to be nothing more than a shallow male vying after a pretty face. I thought the way they dealt with Penny suddenly having unresolved feelings for him during the sleepover episode to be odd, contrived and awkward. Add to that the entire New Year's fiasco, and it just goes to show that this pairing should truly be put to rest.

I wish the writers would realize that.

Yup. They tried them out. A whole season's worth, and not only did it not really pick them up any new fans, it turned off many who were previously just apathetic to them.

And it really sucked re: the sleepover episode because I was LOVING it ... up until that point. Ugh! And I also really liked the NYE episode ... except for the icky L/P stuff, which ruined it. Double ugh.

The math suggests that somewhere there is a universe where he is not a whiny priapic homunculus, and she's more than a poorly-written plot-bot. Unfortunately, it's not this one.

The cat is not only dead, it's putrid. It's not pining, it's passed on. This cat is no more. It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to meet its maker. This is a late cat. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. It's rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-cat....

And if it IS a zombie-cat, then we should kill it with fire.

And then shoot its burning carcass with an arrow. :Nods:
