Lux and Jones? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?!
Okay, is anyone else shipping Lux and Jones after the last Life Unexpected episode? Also, about the show in general, I still like both Cate and Shiri Appleby, but she is easily my least favorite character/actor on the show.

Yep. To both thoughts. Also, I'll be really disappointed if they break up Cate/Ryan to shove together Cate/Baze. I mean, they have good chemistry (even thought the endless fighting gets a bit grating) and I would have had no problem with it if she hadn't already been involved with Ryan. But something about that possibility just rubs me the wrong way.

Yeah, I was fine with the idea of Cate/Baze before, but her talk of why she was with Baze and what those feelings are about compared to her and Ryan, well, they just don't compare. But her lying to Ryan? Oh, Cate. He deserves better, *sigh*

Ooh, but Lux and Jones! I love the possibility!!

I don't know, I'm still kinda on the Lux/Bug train even though he treated her like crap last episode. Maybe it's because I find the actor who plays Bug a lot more attractive and hotter than the actor who plays Jones.

I agree on what you said about Shiri/Cate though. It seems like the writers are trying their best to make us hate Cate. What's up with that?

I do like the actor playing Bug, but yeah, for me, any appreciation for him died during that scene where he turned such emotional abuse on Lux. Yes, he's dealt with a lot himself, but Lux doesn't deserve that and it shows that if he can do that under such a benign (really) situation, how much worse he'd be in the future. Lux deserves better.

As for the actors, though, Jones kinda reminds me of a young James Spader in Pretty in Pink.

I agree on what you said about Shiri/Cate though. It seems like the writers are trying their best to make us hate Cate. What's up with that?

I think we're supposed to see the messed-up person behind the perfect facade, but the problem is that when Appleby portrays the "perfect" Cate, she's annoying and like one of those mean, uppity girls and we just want to punch her. So when they then show the imperfect side to her, it just confirms our issues with her already. *sigh* Essentially the character does not match the actress, and vice versa.

Yes to both points.

But, I have a soft spot for Jones because Austin is cute as can be.

So not just me. Cool. :)

well, don't look at me *g* I'm still rooting for Lux and Bug. I dunno, but I felt an immediate dislike the very first time we saw Jones. And I just couldn't shake it. He still seems like a douche to me. :-/
Though, I'm sure Lux will have a fling with Jones. I mean, otherwise where'd be point in building up the character so damn much the last two episodes.

I liked Bug until this episode. I'm sorry but he completely lost me with the emotional, verbal abuse he threw at her. Jones, seems like a typical, popular, has it all rich boy who needs some softening up. After all, he was actually pretty nice to Lux from the get-go. It wasn't until Bug took his car for a joyride that Jones got douchy. And he got over it pretty quickly.

But didn't he use Lux and kinda pressure her to get the kegs for his party? I can't remember if it was him or the high school girls...
Arabian: ATttD - Sorryarabian on February 26th, 2010 06:58 am (UTC)
Not really. She offered her dad's bar for his party, and it's an easy assumption to think that alcohol would then be available. When it wasn't there, he asked her where the booze was, because he thought that she had offered it up by offering the place above the bar. Understandable considering w/the party being called off because of his gf's parents being home, that naughtiness (including booze) was expected. It was then Lux's choice to tell the truth, and stand firm with Baze's rules, but she simply smiled and said, oh yeah, sure, let me go get it. He didn't pressure her at all, he simply asked where something was that he thought she had already offered.

(ETA: Because, wow, I made no sense originally, LOL!)

I def. don't agree with what Bug throw at her in that argument, but somehow I also understand his situation and why he exploded like that. It's not easy for him to see her drift away into this other world where he just can't be a part of. And with all the abandonment issues he obviously has he felt threatened and said all the stuff in the heat of the moment. So, I'm not blaming him too much for it. And him leaving at the end of the episode just proved me again that he loves her and doesn't want to become his father and hurt her even more.

Sure, Jones is nice to her b/c he has a crush. And now with Bug being out of the picture and Lux being vulnerable I'm sure he will make his next move.

But Jones was nice to her when he first met her; not in a 'I like you' way, but as a decent human being.

I get *why* Bug acted the way he did, but the fact that he did shows he has that tendency, and regardless of understanding, it just shows me that he needs to change a lot of his ways of thinking and that's not going to happen soon. I like that he went away, and ideally, I'd like to see him gone for a while. I think the best thing to happen would be have him stay away, have Lux/Jones develop a relationship and then next season (provided there is one) Bug comes back with some obvious changes in his attitude. Sadly, I already know it isn't going to work that way.

Bottom-line, I like the actor, liked the character, but because of his life, we've already seen that no matter how much he loves Lux (and I believe that he does), he's an emotional abuser. And I just can't go for that, not without some seriously growth on his part and I don't see that happening any time soon.

I love Ryan. I've loved Cate since the first episode. I just ::like:: Lux and Baze. Sidenote: I *hate* Cate's family.

I'm a little disappointed w/what they did with Bug. I hope he comes back.

Ah, I ADORE Lux, love Ryan, sorta love Baze, like Cate. (Can't stand Cate's family either.)

I'm a little disappointed w/what they did with Bug. I hope he comes back.

Me too, but, erm, think positively. It likely will pay off. :)

Read your comment below on telling the truth not paying off in the short term... and now feel optimistic. TY :D

This show is losing me and is in danger of being taken off my season pass. It just seems like every ep is the same thing - Lux gets pissed at Kate for no good reason and acts like a brat and then sort of forgives her at the end b/c someone else pointed out that Kate was trying and the Lux was being a B. Just, I don't know. The first couple of eps were great, but the last batch have been background noise. Oh, and Lux's friends from her "before life" are a-holes and I don't feel bad for that redhead. I hope it rediscovers what made me want to keep watching it after the first couple of eps.
Arabian: Lux01arabian on February 26th, 2010 11:50 pm (UTC)
I was getting there, but this was the episode that got me back. And ...

Lux gets pissed at Kate for no good reason and acts like a brat and then sort of forgives her at the end b/c someone else pointed out that Kate was trying and the Lux was being a B

Didn't happen at all in this episode. Instead, Cate was actually a pretty damn good mom to her. I thought they did a great job of contrasting the two "triangles." And nice work with showing how lying worked, but telling the truth didn't ... in the short-run. Plus, they are slowly showing character growth in small ways with all of the characters. Good stuff in this episode.
sorrynosorryno on February 27th, 2010 08:49 pm (UTC)
WORD. Cate killed me. I was yelling at her to just TELL RYAN!!! I love Ryan and he MUST stay on the show!!!

I agree I am more toward Lux and Jones now ,because he was sweet throughout the shows and bug was verbally abusive. I hope Ryan and Cate get back together they were so "right" together.
Arabian: Lux01arabian on March 17th, 2010 05:48 am (UTC)
Yeah, after this last episode I am even more on Jones' side, and am totally over with Bug. He comes back, treats her like crap AGAIN, and *just* because he brings her flowers at her big dance, he's a great guy again? I don't think so.

At this point, I'm not sure who I want Cate with because I think both Ryan and Baze deserve someone who treats them better.
