So You Think You Can Dance Dance/Results & 100th Show
Wow, what a lame-ass 100th show! Geez, what a gyp. Oh yeah, and someone went home (two someones!)

I don't believe it. I've never thought that they actually lie about the votes, but I do tonight. I do NOT believe that Janette was voted out over Kayla. Kayla who has been in the bottom non-stop and who a lot of people just do. not. like, and Janette who's NEVER been in the bottom and while she can be annoying, there's not the flat-out lack of affection for her. I don't buy it.

Jason? Yeah, and Jason going makes it even more likely that it was fixed. Kayla got the lowest votes, I just know it. They fixed it. Those bastards!!!

As for the guys, well, I really expected Evan in the bottom-two tonight, but he wasn't! WOOHOO!! And that makes him the only dancer left who's NEVER BEEN IN THE BOTTOM! Hopefully, this is what it took to wake Nigel and Mary up that HE is America's favorite dancer and to just give in like they finally did with Benji. *sigh* I'm glad Jason went, I just wish that he'd gone a lot sooner. I wasn't surprised that Ade (and Melissa) were safe. The cancer dance saw to that.

As for the 100th show ... boy, was this lame. Other than seeing Wade dance in Rama-lama, it was okay. I mean I like the Hummingbird and Bench dances, but I would have liked to see the table dance (with Neil/Sabra) or Bleeding Love (with Chelsie/Mark) way more than the supremely untalented Katie Holmes. When, oh, when will we stop being subjected to her "talent." She has a thin, reedy voice and while not rhythm-less, she certainly isn't a dancer. Ugh! Can. not. stand. her.

BUT, Evan is safe and that is alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll that matters!! Maybe (fingers crossed) next week, he'll finally be paired with Jeanine!?!?!? Bah, he'll be paired with Melissa or Kayla again, I know it. Sigh.

I hate that there's Evan backlash on the internet now and he's getting the blame a lot of Janette going home. a.) I think like you, that this was fixed so Kayla stayed. I don't believe for a second that Janette was really everyone's fav. With Melissa being safe this week, if they could get Kayla to stick around in the top six, she has a hell of a shot for top four because I really think Melissa will be voted out next week. I love her ballet but America is tired of it. Then they'll do their best to cater to Kayla so she'll get the top girl votes (I really think a guy will win this year, even if it's not Evan) and the money that they started last year with Katie (and that was such a joke, too).

b.) Janette, as a salsa and mostly partner dancer, had really lame solos. IF (big IF) she really did get the lowest votes, I think THAT is why she lost, not Evan.
Arabian: ATttD - Sorryarabian on July 24th, 2009 02:34 am (UTC)
Yeah, because it was Evan's fault. Never mind that since Kayla first made her appearance in the bottom three, she's been there EVERY week but twice, once when she got the Addiction dance and, oh, when she was with Evan. And Randi NEVER hit the bottom until she was no longer Evan's partner. Fortunately, I think the internet is such a small percentage of voters for this show because based on the internet, you'd think that no one liked Evan. So not the case.

But she's only done two solos and this one was pretty good, especially compared to last week.

I'm sure I've bitched about plenty of dancers before when I didn't think they were up to par, but at the end of the day, this is still America's Favorite Dancer, not Who America Thinks is the Best Technically or Most Versatile or whatever. And Evan's the one left with the most real personality and heart. Hell, he's been the only one with that for a long time now. So if America wants to pick him as their FAVORITE, then that's what he is. I do hate to see the backlash though.

You're right about the actual percentage. This reminds me of Mark. A lot on the internet hated him because they didn't think he was as good as the others, but he held on a long time because he was favored by many. And even now he's still one of the more memorable contestants (and I think since he didn't win it all, resentment has cooled and he's more liked all over now).

Mark!!!!!!!!!! He so should have been second-place (with Chelsie winning -- I ADORED HER!), but yeah, it's ridiculous how they forget that they very clearly state on this show it's "favorite." All that technical stuff applies for AI and such, but this is about the favorite. And Evan is it!!!! The backlash does suck though, thus why I'm not going to the evil place or reading the ONTD thread or anywhere else they'd bash him.

Because Katie Holmes' spectacular taped performace was SOOO awesome.

I've only been watching on and off this season, but I'm excited to see that you watch SYTYCD too!

LOL! Yes, I've watched all but the first season. I'll probably download that someday to watch.

All I can say is that a) I'm so glad Evan's still in it; b) I fast-forwarded through Katie, and all I could think was, "Madam, you are no Judy Garland." Bleh.
Arabianarabian on July 24th, 2009 03:50 am (UTC)
Hell, she's no Diana DeGarmo who did a lovely performance of that on AI when she was 16. LOL! Katie Holmes? Blah.

I am in total agreement that apparently 100th episode = lame-o. What was all the hype for? Katie Holmes?!? For reals? That was so bizarre. Why do they continue to bug us with all the singing- don't they realize we tune in for the DANCING? Bring back the guest dancers! Idiots.
Arabian: Dancing Cucumberarabian on July 24th, 2009 03:42 pm (UTC)
It was very, very, VERY lame. It really was.

See, I just don't see how they could fix it. I honestly do think Janette was in the bottom and I will tell you why. She and Jeanine are both from Dancetown in Miami and I know for a fact that they are splitting votes. It's happening at my dance studio. And Kayla had a really good night.

I just don't think Nigel could change votes. I do think he could and does manipulate the shit out of things but I think legally his ass could be in a lot of trouble if he tried to change the votes.

I have no doubt he will get Melissa. I will keep voting my ass off. And yea, there's a lot of hate but there's a lot of support for Evan too.

They can work around things. I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure it has the same disclaimer about the producers being able to pick the outcome. In S1 of AI (which Nigel was a producer of then), Texas was in two time zones because of its size and therefore, the entire state got a whole extra hour of voting which may very well have tipped the win to Kelly's favor -- she's from Texas and talks about it with love a lot. They play with stuff like that. So it CAN be done. And I'm sure Nigel knows all the ways to do so.

I could see him playing around with time zones and things like that but I don't think he could change the totals. But then who knows?

I honestly kind of like Kayla more now since her waltz with Evan. I know she's kind of a bubble head but . . . . . . . . . what can I say? Seeing her draped over Evan on results night was just too sweet.

I hate the force-fed favorites and unless she's dancing with Evan, she completely unimpresses me, so meh! I don't even like Janette, but dance-wise, she was almost always captivating.

Honestly, though, I don't care. I just want Evan in the final four and to WIN! My favorite has never won, and my fave has only been in the top four once. Just once!!!
harper47harper47 on July 24th, 2009 04:17 pm (UTC)
I never watched season 1 so my faves have been:

Season 2 - Benji- won
Season 3 - Lacey - top 4
Season 4 - Mark - top 6

So I'm nervous for next week since the situation is really similar to Mark and Chelsie. Two dancers who are similar in style and look versus a very different dancer. I guess we'll see what happens.

And it thrills me that Mark, Lacey and Chelsie are both working in their profession and doing well outside of SYTYCD.
Arabian: Deanarabian on July 24th, 2009 04:42 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I never watched S1 either, am downloading it now because of this thread, LOL!

See, me no luck!

Season 2 - Natalie - top 6
Season 3 - Neil - top 4
Season 4 - Chelsie/Mark - top 6

And it thrills me that Mark, Lacey and Chelsie are both working in their profession and doing well outside of SYTYCD.

I just wish we could *see* Mark more.
harper47harper47 on July 24th, 2009 04:49 pm (UTC)
I loved Natalie. She was great.

Mark is doing a lot of background dancing - the DWTS and this and I think he's in Shankman's movie isn't he? I'm just thrilled he is working.
Arabian: Chelsie & Markarabian on July 24th, 2009 04:50 pm (UTC)
*sigh* background is the key word. Good for him getting work, but I want to SEE him and not have to madly search in the background.
Kittictactardis on August 6th, 2009 08:06 pm (UTC)
So, I totally just found this now. (I've been looking for SYTYCD blogs to see what the public thinks of this mistreatment of Evan, and lo' and behold, I found it on yours, which I normally associate with Doctor Who! Haha.)

But I have a theory about Janette's getting voted off. I don't blame Evan for it -- I blame the producers/judges. You've seen it yourself -- they've been trying to shaft Evan week after week after week. I think they accidentally got Janette voted off in the crossfire. I mean, just /look/ at what they tried that week -- death slot, a dance which even THEY admitted didn't garner votes, the whole faint praise thing... I also seem to remember most of the other couples getting the popular choreographers. It's like stunt casting. It drew attention away from the two.

Evan's fans are used to that kind of thing, so they responded with voting like hell and swarming the show en masse. From what I hear from my friends (and they're the typical audience, trust me), Janette was a fan favorite, but she was generally treated to the help of fair-weather fans who saw an awesome performance and voted, which was stripped because of the Evan bus-throwing.

Of course, it's all up to speculation at this point, and those're just my thoughts. x'D ...My rather lengthy thoughts. ...Apologies for that, I'm a huge Evan fan and my fellow SYTYCD watchers are the kind who think that the show is totally fair and put entirely too much faith into the judges/show in general. ^.^;
Arabian: Summerarabian on August 6th, 2009 11:53 pm (UTC)
I think you're right, actually. So it wasn't fixed, it was just that Janette's bye-bye was a result of the Evan bashing. GRRRR!
Kittictactardis on August 7th, 2009 02:18 am (UTC)
Yeah, exactly. :[ I personally liked Janette as well, so I was just a little angry that she got caught up in the battle as well.

Hopefully that taught them a lesson about sabotaging contestants. Doesn't always work out as planned.
