Well, I headed on over to ohnotheydidnt and sure enough there was a post on it from this source.
Quote:Wow, on the bigger hand I really hope it's not true because that sucks big-time for Kelly, on the other hand, sigh ... I really, REALLY don't like the lyrics to "Never Again," plus the early track list included "Yeah," which is possibly my least favorite Kelly song I've ever heard. I know there are other lyrics, but all I ever remember of it is her repeating the word "yeah" over and over again, and it's simply not catchy for me.
Pop star Kelly Clarkson has reportedly scrapped her new album after label bosses weren't impressed with the record. The 25-year-old singer suffered a scathing attack from Sony BMG chief Clive Davis after he heard the new tracks, reports British newspaper the Daily Star. A source at the record company tells the paper, "It was an extraordinary presentation. Clive was absolutely merciless in his criticism of Kelly. "She's one of the biggest priorities on the label and her new songs were savaged." The American Idol winner has been working on the follow up to 2005's best selling album Breakaway for 18 months, but has reportedly gone back to the studio to work on new tracks.
This does suck because I WANT HER ALBUM, but as many issues as I have with Clive Davis (and what he did to Justin Guarini ... loooooooooong story), he does know his stuff and Kelly IS a top priority for RCA and a badly reviewed, unpopular album could hurt her right now. That possibility is there based on her first single. The comments I've read on NA have been very mixed, with people who don't like it really hating it. And I've honestly never heard much negative commentary about Kelly's songs before NA, so maybe Davis is right. But still, poor Kelly. She wrote a lot of this one herself so it's gotta hurt. Sigh, just, poor Kelly.
If this is true, I still hope some (if not all) of the tracks are leaked so we can at least hear them. I'm sure the truth will come out soon enough.
Sigh.
