American Idol, Night 5

Let's see who comes of Birmingham, although, I have to admit I'm getting tired of auditions. This is the sixth hour of auditions, sigh. Really? This many hours of auditions, mostly bad? Anyhoo, behind the cut, are the ones I like.

* Katie Bernard - Yes, very annoying talking voice, but I liked her singing voice. And I think she is definitely someone who will sound better with the music to guide her.

* Tatiana McConnico - I was quite pleased that she pointed out that she's only lived 17 years, right after the comment about how it's the biggest thing she's done in her whole life. That shows a good sensibility. Youngins will make that statement not realizing the absurdity inherent in it often; she did. So kudos. And she can sing too!! Her lower tones remind me a bit of Ella Fitzgerald (and I LOVE Ella.)

* Bernard Williams II - He's good. He gets a go from me. Still, a little Broadway sounding to my tone, so I'm surprised Simon didn't call him on it. He clearly rubs Paula the wrong way though.

* Jamie Lynn Ward - Can I say I'm so glad that she can sing (she was a bit pitchy, but she might get better with music), because her story (daddy shot himself, cheatin' wife, paralyzed, etc.). I like her. I agreed completely with Paula -- lovely when just singing, but nasally, off when powering through. I do like her. Clearly, I was on crack. A re-listen proved this.

* Chris Sligh - I loved his speech to the camera. Seriously I thought he was going to say he saw himself, or make some sad sack comment about a loser he sees when he looks in the mirror, but when he said so straight-faced "Christina Aguilera," I literally laughed out loud. In a GOOD way. The whole 'crap' discussion had me LOLing too. LOVE his personality. (Justin mention and not negative, but I think Justin has nicer hair, more sculpted.) "Touched me right here," LOL again. Good, good voice. I like. My favorite guy. Period. I LOVE HIM! I was with Paula in freaking in joy. He's awesome! It's a girl thing. And he's the first person I clapped for when announcing he made it through.

And the auditions are STILL. NOT. OVER!
