'Snow White and the Huntsman' -- soooooooooooo good!
Why did it take me this long to watch Snow White and the Huntsman?!?!? badboy_fangirl, why oh why did I not listen to you months ago!?!? I loved it, loved it, loved it! It made me laugh, it made me tear up, cheer and was just all-around awesome. I even went to Wal-Mart to buy the dang thing right away after I finished it, but stupid Wal-Mart didn't have it. GRRR!

And I have to say that I wanna go ahead and finally sit down and watch Twilight, because I think Kristen Stewart is REALLY good. She's lovely, is charismatic and I absolutely loved her Snow. She and Chris Hemsworth had sweet chemistry. He was wonderful. (And I totes thought, 'heh, Bella and Thor!' at one point!) Charlize Theron was wonderful (no surprise there). And it was nice seeing Sam Claflin before The Hunger Games... I can absolutely see him as Finnick Odair now in The Hunger Games.

Bottom-line, I LOVED IT! I thought they did such cool twists on the Snow White story with the queen, the mirror, the apple, the huntsman, true love's kiss, the dwarves, it was just, so good. The special effects were cool and the message of hope, strength and goodness was fantastic. And I'm so glad they're doing a sequel. But even if I don't love that one -- although, of course, I hope I do -- I have this one to hold and love forever!

SWatH Kristen Stewart is not the same as Twilight Kristen Stewart. At all. Although, the acting is probably the best in the last movie (and even then, it's still kinda questionable at points. From everyone in the cast.)

Also, Kristen Stewart lovely and charismatic? I think you're the first person in the history of ever (except for TwiHards) who has said that.

She's not a terrible actress, but I personally wouldn't call her charismatic.

(Also, I haven't seen all of SWatH. I started watching it on my way to Rome, but fell asleep once my Ativan kicked in. I do intend to watch it at some point.)

The only thing I've seen her in is Panic Room when she was a kid, so this was really my first introduction to her, and I loved her in it. So I don't know if that will shade my impression about Twilight, or if I'll think it's just as shitty as the books and she does nothing to elevate it, LOL!

I did really love this movie, though.

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie too! It's quite atmospheric & creatively done.

IMHO The 1st Twilight movie is OK. Because of the (um, yes, I guess we should call this plot lol) because of the plot it's a bit hard to take the 2nd one seriously, although I think Kristen did a really nice job in it (and I'd even say a brilliant job in a scene or two). I skipped the next couple of movies, but I've seen the last one and unfortunately, the last one is just plain ridiculous. Oh well. Happens to the best of sequels ;)

Yeah, I was quite surprised too.

I'm expecting not much from the Twilight movies, so that's good going into it, LOL!

LOL, yeah, why didn't you listen to me MONTHS ago? I don't even care, I'm just thrilled you're here now! *throws confetti*

First things first, let's talk KStew and Twilight: I've had this conversation with many people, so I'm prepared (LOL) --I feel like sometimes people (not YOU, other people!) forget that an actress is DIRECTED in a movie. So there is a certain element of KStew being cool--because she is, IMHO, and she makes Bella much more tolerable than she actually is as a character, which you know what an insufferable character she is since you've read the books. But because I saw Twilight before I read it, Bella, in my head, was always loads cooler than Bella in the books, and you should watch Twilight for Bella's hair, if for nothing else, because her hair is amazing in that film. But just remember, the source material is junk, and it could only be improved upon slightly. I personally love New Moon, but that's because Jake was always my favorite character (of course) and that one's all about him, but I still think the ending of that movie is ACES. Eclipse is pretty terrible, but both of the BD movies do the most with what can only be described as the most riDONKulous plot of all time, and IMHO, the final 20 minutes of the last film are BRILLIANT and is what should have happened in the book.

When Kristen was cast as Snow, I was curious as to what she'd do with it, and after I saw it the first time one of my friends was like, ugh, she was so KSTEW in this! All depressed and awful and it was Bella all over again! and I was like, WHAT MOVIE WERE YOU WATCHING? First of all, if you'd been locked in the North Tower for NINE years after your father was brutally murdered just after your mother died, WOULDN'T YOU BE FUCKING DEPRESSED? Sheesh. And the director hired Kristen to do what she did--that's what he wanted her to do! It irritates me so much when people don't get that acting is a craft! I mean, certainly there are bad actors out there, but I don't think she's one of them, and SWaTH is not my only proof. I would say you need to see Speak and The Runaways STAT because those are both amazing performances--and she doesn't even talk very much in the first movie. She was 14 or 15 when she did it, and she's wonderful, WONDERFUL.

As for SWaTH on its own: let me just say that before this I liked Chris Hemsworth a lot; I'd seen Thor and The Avengers and thought he was great, but The Huntsman just put me into the category of LOVING HIM FOREVER. He's so wonderful, all rough edges and gentle giantness and she saves him, SHE SAVES HIM from himself, and it's so, so, so beautiful. And I love, love, love that there isn't any competition between him and William, and that they are both good men, but it was quite apparent to me that Snow and The Huntsman was the proper ship for me :D And I love, love, LOVE that The Huntsman doesn't know that his kiss woke her--and when his tears run down on to her face (I saw your icon, BEST MOMENT EVER, RIGHT?)--OH GOD. And his face when he tells the dwarfs to DO SOMETHING to save her! And just--everything about her, how scared and timid she is, but how he teaches her to fight and to be brave, and then his kiss actually brings her back so she can fulfill her destiny?

Man, I'm gonna have to watch it again tonight, obvs! Anyway, I'm so glad you loved it so much, because it's just one of those films that deserves so much love. I'm not even gushing about the style of it and how awesome the effects are, and how even though the director is a douche bag, I think his vision was pretty amazing. My fear for the second movie is that part missing since it's going to have a different director; but like you said, if the second one isn't as good, we always have this one, and it cannot be taken from us!

And, OMG, this is like the longest comment ever! But I can't help it! Someone to talk about it with, YAY!

We should totes try to talk this weekend or something about the movie. It's been forever since we talked!

I read the first 12 chapters of Twilight and I was just done because nothing happens, LOL! I do plan on watching the movies someday, so this (along with loving Valorie Curry in The Following) is the push I need. I am not expecting anything even remotely close to a masterpiece, hah!

And just--everything about her, how scared and timid she is, but how he teaches her to fight and to be brave, and then his kiss actually brings her back so she can fulfill her destiny?

Just pretty much ALL OF THIS! And I love how Snow just took so charge of her own destiny. She was awesome. And ugh, I loved it so hard!!!

Oh, man, I wish! So busy--yesterday I had like an hour of free time, hence the comment-novella, but today I'm only on long enough to say: I'm going to bed, and then leaving town after work tomorrow--I won't be home until Tuesday, and then I'm helping a friend pack and move all day Wednesday...ugh.

Woe.

But please, convert many people to this movie! :D

I liked this movie as well.

Kristen Stewart:
I did feel that she does a good job at being very emotive, and I liked her in the first Twilight because of that talent she has. I don't know if she's the best actress yet...but I think she has potential. I don't particularly care for her in the public eye, but I can see her hanging around Hollywood and doing some interesting movies and then maybe in ten years or so being AMAZING in one particular role, getting a ton of awards for that role and then being all weird and actery (is that a word) while doing the press and then disappearing from the spotlight once again. Ha! I don't know why, but she has that type of vibe to me.

The Movie Itself:
Really creative and I loved what they did with True Love's kiss and all of that and I really enjoyed the Hunter and the beautiful imagery it all provoked. Just really dramatic and pretty to looke at. It dragged a bit in the middle, I thought, but overall it all worked really well in the end.

Charlize Theron;
I need to talk about this woman because OMG she was DELICIOUS. She made that movie work in so many ways...just like Kristen (I felt anway) kept the movie together, Charlize made it interesting and just wicked. She's just so good at the being the villain, like crazy good.
