Scandal... "A Scorned Woman"
So, I just finished another of my favorite shows tonight (yeah, TVD, Parks & Rec, Elementary, Person of Interest and Scandal -- my five favorite shows, ALL on Thursday night) and it was...

Man, I just love Scandal so. Just LOVE it! I was grinning like a fool during the whole "You're All I Need" countdown. And just aaaahhhhhhhh!!! It's so wrong, so ridiculous, so over the top, but it's so, so, so, sooooooooooooooooooooooo awesome! Kerry Washington (goddess who I've been a fan of a LONG time) and Tony Goldwyn (bad guy from Ghost!) have some killer chemistry and I just love delicious, soapy goodness of it all.

Heh, during the final couple of scenes with Olivia and Fitz I was cracking up because I remembered this interview where Tony Goldwyn said that his grown daughters were teasing him about 'erection' line from the premiere and the whole sexual napalm of the pairing. I couldn't help but think of that during their sex scene tonight, especially knowing that he directed the episode, LOL!

I also surprisingly love Huck and Quinn. Who'da thunk it? But there it is. And Cyrus is wonderful (well, you know what I mean), and I'm sooooooo glad he's not the mole. Yay. And, yes, Jake is shady, but my love for Scott Foley is eternal.

I love all the characters, especially Olivia, the interactions, the relationships, all of it. The only thing I'm meh on is Mellie, but that's just because I'm not a big fan of the actress. She's very good, I just am not a fan. But yeah, hee! Awesome episode tonight. Can't wait for next week!

Look! I finally made an icon!

Last night was an awesome episode. The entire thing was glorious from beginning to end.

I don't ship Olivia/Fitz - they are way too dysfuctional for me to actually want them to be together, but I do ship Jake/Olivia. Yes, dysfunctional there too, but Scott Foley and Kerry Washington are so pretty together. Both Olivia/Fitz and Olivia/Jake have great chemistry, but I'm TEAM JAKE. ;)

I adore Kerry Washington and love Olivia, but Huck is my favorite character on the show. Guillermo Diaz was UH-MAY-ZING in last week's episode, and I loved that we got some of Huck's backstory. I do enjoy the Huck/Quinn scenes and their whole storyline.

Ahh, Cyrus. Jeff Perry is just phenomenal. I am glad he's not the mole either, because I love the Cyrus/Olivia friendship.

And I LOVED that Mellie did the interview with James. I can't wait for the fallout from that.

As we've discussed the only character I don't like on the show is Abby (she can DIAF for all I care), but everyone else I love.

I love Jake because hello! Scott Foley, but yeah, I'm all for Fitz/Olivia. Can't help it.

Huck is my 2nd favorite character and it's pretty much been that from the beginning. And I can't get over how much I love Huck/Quinn stuff.

Ahh, Cyrus. Jeff Perry is just phenomenal. I am glad he's not the mole either, because I love the Cyrus/Olivia friendship.

This, this, all of this!

As we've discussed the only character I don't like on the show is Abby (she can DIAF for all I care), but everyone else I love.

Heh, I actually forgot about her. I don't love her, I'm just meh on her. I actually blame the actress, I just don't think she's very likable. Ah well, small complaint when everything else is so great.

Scandal!!! I agree that Thursday's ep was really solid -- though it made me feel like I was watching two shows (the Fitz/Olivia/Mellie/Cyrus show and the "case file" show -- trying to find the mole).

I have to say this is the one show where I'm not digging Scott Foley (after loving him on Grey's). I always notice his makeup -- which is awful, but I swear they put too much blush and lip gloss on him. (And if he's going against Charlie, I'll take Charlie in that fight any day and twice on Sundays. ;)

Fitz/Olivia are my angsty, star-crossed ship, and I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. ;) But good to see risks being taken from a character perspective -- affair stories have the potential to get stagnant, since nobody wants to budge from their current position. I liked to see the pieces being moved around the board -- relationships evolving, tensions coming to a head, etc. The last two eps should be quite a doozy!!!

Hmm, I guess it all worked for me because Olivia was the thread that connected the two.

Aww, you're not digging Scott FOley? Wow, I can not comprehend that, but that's just because I've seen just about everything he's done and never not loved him. I haven't noticed any off make-up stuff, though. Of course, there's only one show I watch with eagle eyes, LOL!

Fitz/Olivia are my angsty, star-crossed ship, and I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. ;)

What I love about Fitz/Olivia is that they really don't write love stories like this anymore. The Romeo/Juliet, Tristan/Isolde, over-the-top, AAAHHHHHHHH! kind of love because we should be independent and not live, exist, breathe for love, blah, blah, blah. Fitz and Olivia? They are that kinda love. And it's awesome to watch.

Very much agreed. :)

Thank you. :)

Ooh. Fantastic point, as usual -- and ties into that AV Club review where it said they were basically a Gothic romance. "I exist for you!!! I'm nothing without you!!!"...and meaning it. But I really like your point because it reminded me about some study I read recently that said "opposites attract" relationships have gone by the wayside. People marry their best friends, people with whom they are compatible, share common interests, have common values, etc. There's fewer "we have nothing in common BUT WE LOvE EACH OTHER" marriages/relationships, and I do see that in Fitz/Olivia. We're given very little reason why they're "good" together other than the fact that they just simply can't seem to be without each other -- and you're right, it's not something we see very often these days. :)

And you know me -- I don't like (human) obstacles in the way of my ships. Hence, Scott Foley is persona non-grata in my book. ;)

It just really strikes me when I watch their scenes. It's just all about the AHHHHH! Larger than life they have that we just don't see much. :) So, yeah, I love it.

*jumps up and down*

You posted on Scandal!!

BTW I'm all caught up on TVD and will comment on your loooong reviews soon ;). You made me realize some stuff I didn't notice in 4x19. The only thing you didn't manage to save was 4x20, sorry!! I'll comment there soon! ;)

Coming back to Scandal. Yes, this episode was made of AWESOME. I really liked there was a bit more levity in this one. I think we all needed that after the previous heartbreaking episode. Even Olitz got to be happy for like twenty seconds or something, lol.

Yeah, I couldn't help but think of Tony Goldwyn directing this episode too! I love this couple so damn much. And yeah, Kerry Washington is a GODDESS. I love this actress so so much. And Olivia Pope is one of the best female leads ever. She's complicated and messy and smart and beautiful and strong and perfect.

As are Olivia/Fitz together. Yeah, of course in real life no one would calmly wait and give up their presidency for their mistress but I have completely fallen for this ship from the get go and I love the whole star crossed lovers thing they have. I don't like how people say they're dysfunctional because I don't think they are, I think we've been shown how in sync they really are when they're in their little world. One of my favorite Olitz scenes are the phone calls scenes in early season 2 when they just laugh and are carefree with each other and the flashbacks in Camp David when they wrote the State of the Union speech together.

They're my new OTP *sigh* I haven't shipped a couple this much since Damon and Elena. ;) BTW weren't you reminded of Caroline and Stefan interrupting sexiness times when they kept intercutting between Olitz and Mellie? I was like 'let me watch my OTP having sex dammit, I'll watch Mellie later!" lol

Which reminds me that I miss Damon and Elena together but that's for another post, lol.

I also love Cyrus myself, I know I shouldn't but I LOVE this messed up character. I also love Mellie myself!

I admit, I thought of you when I posted this, LOL!

I hope that you read my 4.19 after your comment which made you like it more (or at least reconsider stuff), but I'm thinking not. I'm not terribly surprised about you and 4.20 though.

I agree; it was nice seeing some joy, and it was joyful. Pure and unadulterated.

Agreed completely!

As are Olivia/Fitz together.

Me too, but I'm hopeful.

I also love Cyrus myself, I know I shouldn't but I LOVE this messed up character. I also love Mellie myself!

Eh, Mellie, but YES to Cyrus!

Again, sorry for my lateness. :s

Aww, thanks! :D

I have a feeling I'll inject myself a good dose of this episode after watching the finale, lol! Damn you, Shonda!

I mentioned above about them that what I love about Fitz/Olivia is that they really don't write love stories like this anymore. THIS, just THIS. Thanks for putting into words what I couldn't figure out, lol. This is what draws me to them too. Well, I've always been drawn to that kind of love stories anyway (Anakin/Padmé on Star Wars, Buffy/Angel on BtVS, Lois Lane/Superman and so on). I think what's so surprising to people is the fact that this kind of love story takes place in a very realistic environment. Some people just can't wrap their mind around it. Me? I love it, THIS is epic love. ;)

Eh, Mellie, but YES to Cyrus!

Mellie is crazy, that's why I love to hate her if that makes sense! Sometimes I even feel for her. I think she's so entertaining to watch and so complicated. Sometimes you think she's just a manipulative bitch yet sometimes it looks like she really loves Fitz, other times she just despises him, sometimes she's a terrible mother, other times she's shown to actually care about her kids (where are they BTW?? This is becoming ridiculous, their mom just said on national television that their dad cheated on her, we have to be shown their reaction! oh well)

She's a walking contradiction, I love it. Also I think it's refreshing to show a woman consumed with political ambition. She's the female Cyrus and I love that. But I'm no Mellie stan like some people out there who enjoy her putting down Fitz or Olivia. My loyalty is to both of them first and foremost lol.
