Popular/Unpopular Opinions Meme
So, I've seen this around, but I've never done it, figured, eh, why not, with a little twist ...

Give me a television show, movie, book, cd, actor, musician, author and if I'm familiar with it/them, I'll give you what I think (considering my flist, interwebs browsing, magazine-reading overall vibe) is a popular opinion that I share with the masses as well as an unpopular one ... if I even have one for it. :)

White Collar.

Unpopular - I find Tim DeKay/Burke sexier than I do Bomer/Neal.

Popular - I freaking adore the Burke/Neal relationship. :)

Color me shocked. ;)

(I knew this was what you were going to say before I read your reply.)

I honestly can't think of another unpopular opinion I have about the show, LOL!
wiccabuffy: TVD - Damon doesn't like Twilightwiccabuffy on February 2nd, 2012 08:59 pm (UTC)
The Vampire Diaries
Arabian: Ian Somerhalder01arabian on February 3rd, 2012 12:42 am (UTC)
Unpopular - Let's go with the classic for me -- I was pretty indifferent to Lexi upon her first appearance, her second made me actively dislike her and her third made me loathe her. :) (It's not the actress, though, because I liked her when she guested on True Blood).

Popular - I think Ian Somerhalder is FREAKING HAWT AS HELL!

Jason Dohring :)

Unpopular - I do not think he has chemistry with anything that moves. There are quite a few actors I've seen him interact with where I thought there was very little chemistry.

Popular - I think he's one of THE most charismatic actors I've ever had the pleasure to watch.

How I met your mother and Gone with the wind.

Ahh! TWO!

How I Met Your Mother

Unpopular - Lilly annoys the buttcrack out of me. Of course, that's mostly because Alyson Hannigan has annoyed me in everything I've ever seen her in. (And, ironically, I think I've actually seen everything she's been in, LOL!)

Popular - Marshall is uber-adorable!

Gone with the Wind

Unpopular - I think that as written, Ashley Wilkes is the most in-depth, interesting character.

Popular - Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O'Hara is perfection. :)
vanimy: D/Rvanimy on February 3rd, 2012 01:37 pm (UTC)
Hehe, yeah, two! I'm greedy like that! ;)

-Oh, you don't like Alyson Hannigan and/or Lily? I liked Willow more than Lily actually but even though she's not my favorite, I don't mind Lily and I have to admit that the pairing with Marshall makes her more interesting.

Which brings me to Marshall. Yes, he's so adorable. Agreed.

-Ooh, Ashley?? Could you explain why? As someone who only saw the movie (yeah, I know, blasphemy!) I'm really intrigued.

And of course agreed on Vivien Leigh. She carried the whole movie on her shoulders.

Wow, I NEVER saw this. In the book -- and I HIGHLY recommend you read it! -- Ashley has so much depth. He's a tragic figure, but it's a tragedy of his own making and it's also brilliant how Rhett is the only one who actually sees Ashley so clearly, aside from Ashley himself. Ashley is weak and flawed and a dreamer who just wants to dream... and he KNOWS that. And that's part of the tragedy because the changing world is just not for him. It's really beautiful.

Ian Somerhalder (beyond the hotness)

Jason Segal
Arabian: Ian Somerhalder03arabian on February 3rd, 2012 02:56 am (UTC)
Ian Somerhalder

Popular - He's a revelation as Damon; prior to the role he was just the former model/pretty boy+1st one killed on Lost, but after TVD ... people actually talk about his acting and talent!

Unpopular - I actually don't find his twitter preachy ... at all. It's informative, talky, and very concerned, but not preachy, not to me anyway.

Jason Segel

Popular - He's a glorious man-child.

Unpopular - I don't actually think he's that great of an actor. He's kinda okay, it's his lovable adorability that makes him work.

I agree with you on all counts!

I think Ian's twitter is decent- twitter's a great tool- why wouldn't he share information that's important to him and his foundation? I really liked the bottled water video he had the other day- I shared it on my facebook. I don't think that he's preachy- if anything he comes across as pretty humble and down to earth. I've got word from my friend who goes to the set a lot that he's always kind and decent- and it's nice that it shows up on all his outlets. I really hate that he got criticized the other day for not putting anything up about missing people of color- after he posted about wanting to hire someone to investigate the killing of the campaign manager's dog... Animals and environmental protection are his thing! But I'm pretty sure if someone asked him to post about someone who was missing- he would! Sigh. So, yeah, I'm with you there.

I love me some Jason Segel- but bless him, he's pretty much always Marshall isn't he? That said- I'm pretty sure that Marshall Erikson is one of the best men on the planet so it's not a terrible thing. :) He too seems like a really decent fellow. PS- when I first read this I thought you said "adorkable" which completely fits too!

Glee!
Arabian: Quinn01arabian on February 9th, 2012 02:08 am (UTC)
Popular: I think that Jane Lynch is a comic genius. :)

Unpopular: I think Quinn is the most awesome character on the show, Dianna Agron the best actress of the younger set and the most appealing vocalist. :)
