Silence of the Lambs, X-Men, Ratatouille, Miss Congeniality

My questions for these movies:

Favorite characters from them?

When did you watch them?

Was X-Men the only one from the movie series that you watched? Who's your favorite X-Men apart from Wolverine? If you could have any mutant power, what would it be and why? ;) (PS: (PS: I have always wanted the combined powers of Rogue and Mystique ;D )

Why do you love these movies?

Favorite couple's? (where applicable)

Silence of the Lambs

Favorite characters? Clarice, Hannibal

When did you watch it? I watched it almost a year after it came out because I know it came out in February of 1990, and yet won the Oscar in 1991 (which shocked people since it came out in FEBRUARY!). And I watched it shortly before the Oscars, maybe a month or two beforehand.

Why do you love this movie? The acting, the chemistry between Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins, Hopkins' incredible performance, how Foster brought Clarice to life, the intricacies and intelligence of the script, the direction by Jonathan Demme. Pretty much everything about it.

Favorite couple? Clarice/Hannibal, I don't even care.

X-Men

Favorite characters? Wolverine, Rogue, Professor X, Scott/Cyclops

When did you watch it? A few months after it came out because my sister was like OMG! you'll totally love this couple in it! Such great chemistry!

Was X-Men the only one from the movie series that you watched? No, I watched all but X-Men 3 (meaning I watched Wolverine and the recent rebooted X-Men with James MacAvoy and Michael Fassbender, as well as the 2nd X-Men movie. I just heard too many awful things about 3, so I didn't bother.

Who's your favorite X-Men apart from Wolverine? Rogue and Scott/Cyclops.

If you could have any mutant power, what would it be and why? ;) Jean Grey's brain power.

Why do you love this movie? The acting is wonderful, the script is tight and involving and the emotional story between Logan and Marie is BEAUTIFULLY done from beginning to end. Plus, Hugh Jackman is mega-hot! CAGE MATCH! And I love Anna Paquin -- this movie made me a fan, and I've watched almost everything she's done now.

Favorite couple? Logan/Rogue

Ratatouille

Favorite characters? Remy, Anton Ego

When did you watch it? After it came out on DVD.

Why do you love this movie? Oh, it's so beautiful and offers up such a wonderful message -- if you have the talent, if you have the luck, if you keep pushing and if you work with others, you have a much better chance of succeeding. I just, aaah, love it so. It literally makes me cry at the end every time.

Miss Congeniality

Favorite characters? GRACIE HART!, Eric Matthews, Victor Fleming, Stan Fields and Cheryl Frasier.

When did you watch it? After it was out on DVD.

Why do you love this movie? It's funny, it's original, Gracie is a PHENOMENAL character, Sandra Bullock/Benjamin Bratt have a wonderful chemistry, and everything is just, gah! I love it so. It has the right touch of sentimentality without going overboard.

Favorite couple? Gracie/Eric ("You think I'm gorgeous, you want to kiss me.")

I might have to steal this meme :D

Aww, I like to say that Aliens and Gone with the Wind are my two faves. I've watched Aliens over 100 times. Ngl.

Favorite Characters - Hicks, Newt, Hudson and Vasquez

Favorite scenes - Any scene with Ripley and Hicks, especially him breaking the glass window to save her and Newt, and the bit where he gives her the watch, she thanks him and he says "it's not an engagement". Ooh, and when he's teaching her how to use the weapons. "Get away from her you bitch!" (Of course). Vasquez and Gorman holding the explosion device together. Ripley telling everyone of Burke's plan. Hudson saying "Let's put HER in charge!" about Newt. Erm, yeah, the whole movie!

Favorite quotes - (Grabbing from IMDB)

Hicks: Outstanding. Now all we need is a deck of cards.

Ripley: You know, Burke, I don't know which species is worse. You don't see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage.
Hicks: All right, we waste him. No offense.

Hudson: What do you mean, "*They* cut the power"? How could they cut the power, man? They're animals!

Hudson: Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?
Vasquez: No. Have you?

Hudson: Hey, maybe you haven't been keeping up on current events, but we just got our asses kicked, pal!

Hudson: That's it man, game over man, game over! What the fuck are we gonna do now? What are we gonna do?
Burke: Maybe we could build a fire, sing a couple of songs, huh? Why don't we try that?

Hudson: Seventeen *days?* Hey man, I don't wanna rain on your parade, but we're not gonna last seventeen *hours!* Those things are gonna come in here just like they did before. And they're gonna come in here...
Ripley: Hudson!
Hudson: ...and they're gonna come in here AND THEY'RE GONNA GET US!
Ripley: Hudson! This little girl survived longer than that with no weapons and no training.
Ripley: Right? [Newt apes a salute]
Hudson: Why don't you put her in charge?

Hudson: Oh dear Lord Jesus, this ain't happening, man... This can't be happening, man! This isn't happening!

Ripley: You started this. Show me everything.

Newt: Ripley, she doesn't have bad dreams because she's just a piece of plastic.

Ripley: It's very pretty, Bishop, but what're we looking for?

Man, I gotta rewatch this movie!

Gone With the Wind - favorite character(s)? :)

White Palace - why do you love this movie? :)
Arabianarabian on January 23rd, 2012 11:53 pm (UTC)
Gone With The Wind - Favorite characters: Scarlett, Mellie and Rhett.

White Palace - Because it's probably the sexiest, most sincere love story I've seen on screen with a lot of heart, some humor, a real connection and ends with a laughter full of joy. :)

I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH! It basically just makes me happy, and Maria and the Captain have WONDERFUL chemistry, and their love story is just, ahhh, so divine!

Favorite characters - Maria, the Captain, Gretl and Max

Favorite scenes - These are my favorite musical numbers: "The Sound of Music," "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?" (No lie, the nun that's all sweet on Maria played Lila Quartermaine on General Hospital.) "I Have Confidence in Me," "Do Re Mi," "My Favorite Things," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen."

Non-musical scenes - Every Maria/Captain scene, the nuns revealing that they disabled the Nazis' cars, the winning announcement and they keep calling their names, but they're already gone, Maria running in all sheepish after "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?," Maria going on and on about the gifts left by the children, them all crying, leading the Captain to ask if dinner would always be like this with her. I know I said Maria/Captain scenes atop, but my favorite is them dancing. Ooh, and the Maria/Baroness scene in her bedroom is so good too.

I honestly don't remember when I first watched it, but I was a youngin' for sure.

I'm so stealing this idea. But first let me say: GWtW, yes, all time greatest book, and a pretty good adaptation to film, mostly due to Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable being AMAZING. Which scenes/elements from the book do you wish had made it into the movie?

And Field of Dreams....OMG, I still cry at the end, every time. Wanna have a catch? Meeep. *sniff* What do you remember about the first time you saw it?

As for Aliens, all I have to say about that is: DIRECTOR'S CUT.

I agree. The book has so much depth and richness, I adore it.

Because they cut out her first two children we missed out on one of my favorites moments in the book that would have looked AMAZING and ICONIC on screen. Scarlett holding Mellie's baby, a rifle and her little boy standing at her skirts while she faced the Union soldiers that came upon Tara.

I wish so heartily that Lesley Howard had NOT been cast as Ashley. It wasn't until the 3rd/4th read-through that I was finally able to throw off the shackles of his performance to truly appreciate what a greatly-written character that Ashley is.

And Field of Dreams....OMG, I still cry at the end, every time. Wanna have a catch? Meeep. *sniff* What do you remember about the first time you saw it?

I just remember being blown away by how beautiful it was. How it captured the emotions and the power of belief so magically.

As for Aliens, all I have to say about that is: DIRECTOR'S CUT.

I know I have this, but I'm still frustrated it because I finally had some cash a few years back, and I bought this. And then a week or less later, a new edition with a lot of stuff came out and I just couldn't justify buying it again. Grrr. Someday, I will. :)

Oh, yes. Little Wade Hampton. That would have been a great shot, you are so right!

I agree. I had the same problem for years, since I saw the movie first. It wasn't until my mid-twenties that I saw what a rather tragic figure he was, and was not just annoyed by him. LH was way too old and way too British to play Ashley (because unlike the magical Vivien Leigh, he never stops being British).
