So Doctor Who 6.05
Very brief thoughts behind the cut. :)

Wow. That was possibly THE worst episode of Doctor Who I have ever seen. In my opinion, every single Moffat episode was way better. It was that bad. (aside from the obligatory I lurve Matt Smith, and Rory is awesome, of course.)

And, oy vey, it's a two-parter? There's more?!?!?

It's better then most of the junk on tv, but it's still bad for Doctor Who (and that's including the old episodes).

Eh, gotta disagree with that because there is a LOT of good TV right now. (There's a lot of bad, but I tend to not watch that, LOL!). But, yeah, this was a really crappy episode.

Yeah. Not a shiny example of Who Goodness. Especially while I am in the middle of watching the First Season with William Hartnell, and I just watched the Keys of Marinus series and was incredibly impressed at how well it played out. Black and White Who, with an actor who cannot remember his lines most of the time, bless William Hartnell, is doing it better.....something is not good with the world.

I did appreciate Rory getting to kind of make a stand for himself, and that he didn't die this episode. But after the amazing of last weeks episode, I knew I was in for a let down.

I don't know, I think even if this had followed one of the lamer eps of last season, this one would still have sucked. It was just so very bad ... and BORING.

The worst ep ever? I wouldn't go that far. It wasn't worse than "Daleks in Manhattan," IMO. Even if I kept wanting to alternately punch Amy in the face and hoping Rory would run off with the doppelganger chick.

I don't understand why they keep hiring this writer -- I haven't liked a single ep he's written. Great writer/creator for "Life on Mars"...DW, not so much.

(OT -- I assume you haven't watched any more of DA? I know you've been sick and the season isn't ovah yet, though. :)

Nope, I think this was worse than DiM because there was at least heart in that one, and it didn't bore me silly. Sure, it had HUGE issues, but it wasn't this lame-ass-ness.

I'm actually planning on watching some DA today. I thought there were only seven episodes? Are there more eps that I'm missing?
eolivet on May 22nd, 2011 01:20 pm (UTC)
I guess I couldn't stand DiM because it just pushed the boundaries of ridiculousness, even for a DW episode (Daleks built the EMPIRE STATE BUILDING?! REALLY?! :p ) I didn't hate this ep as much as everyone else (although the flesh!Doctor at the end was both predictable and lame). IDK. Soft spot for the actors (Buzzer is an LoM alum) and the northern accents. ;p

Nope, just seven eps of DA S1. :D (Yay! Can't wait to hear your thoughts...whatever they are. I'm just thrilled you're watching at all. :)
I deny your reality, and write my ownspaceanjl on May 22nd, 2011 01:38 pm (UTC)
I suspect I'm in a minority for not hating it, here - but then, I thought it was playing out as a homage to a lot of classic sci-fi literature, (though much of it British, and some of it obscure.) Granted, after the Gaiman episode, it was always going to be a struggle. I'm fairly sure I know where the plot is going, but - it is a kid's show, even with some of the stuff they get past the radar.

It's not just that I thought it was bad, I also thought it was mind-numbingly boring (and the lead actress -- not Jennifer, the other one -- was HORRIBLE!).

(BTW: Have you tried The Vampire Diaries yet? The 2nd season just finished and I still love it oh soooooooooooooooooo much.)

I'm really hoping that the two Doctors thing in next week's ep makes up for this mess. Well, nothing can really make up for it, but at least help us forget this happened.

Yeah, there might be something good that comes out of it. Hope springs eternal. :)

RIGHT?! The only good that came out of the epi was the confidential. Matt/Karen/Badger love. LOL!

sorry I haven't been talking to you in awhile and I just got that email response from your TVD post. EEP!
