The Fannish Honesty Meme
Heh, another meme, but it looked cool (from haro)... Ask me anything: all types of fannish opinions, good, bad, and ugly.Ask me anything fannish-related and I'll answer (in a separate post) with complete honesty.

Anything in the tags list or that you're pretty sure I've mentioned in the past is fair game, as are thoughts on general themes and trends in fandom/fiction. Even lists of love/hated characters.

What's your favorite DW episode? Why?

Who do you support more, Justin or Kelly? Why?

I figured I'd just answer this here.
What's your favorite DW episode? Why?
I can't honestly list my favorite DW episode yet because I'm still going through my rewatch. Based on where I'm at (knowing that the first 12 episodes have gotten a lot more analysis), I'd put it at one of the following episodes:

"The Unquiet Dead" - It's utterly brilliant. I could go on and on about why it's so amazing here, but I already did here.

"Midnight" - another long ramble, not a rewatch-review, but initial first-viewing thoughts. Still, I loved!

"Turn Left" - Same as above. A long ramble based on first-viewing.

"The Stolen Earth" - And one more.

Upon rewatch of all of series one, series two, three and four, I may change my opinion, but as of now, one of those four.
Who do you support more, Justin or Kelly? Why?
Both. I don't support one more than the other, I want them both to have fulfilling careers that give *me* lots of music to enjoy. I think they're both amazingly talented and I'm still so bothered by how completely screwed over Justin was by Davis. I'm just grateful that Kelly was punished "only" with Davis pulling the same treatment with My December. If she hadn't had the success of Thankful and, especially, Breakaway, she'd be toast.

At the end of the day purely on vocal range/ability to emote in a song is Carrie better or Kelly?

In your opinion, was The 4400 a quality TV show just poorly executed?

Blake Lively or Leighton Meester? Who might have an actual career post-GG (and if everything was fair and was based on talent. *g*)

Will VERONICA MARS the movie reinvigorate the cause people have to make Kristen Bell a star?

Your favorite pilot. As in that. Your favorite pilot EVER out of all the shows you love.

Hands down, Kelly. Carrie sounds a little too plastic, her voice has a slight reediness to it, and she goes out of her vocal range, straining on almost EVERY SINGLE SONG! Kelly, hands down. Now I say this, actually liking Carrie's stuff now -- I have both albums.
In your opinion, was The 4400 a quality TV show just poorly executed?
Quality television. I LOVED that show. And I'm still pissed at how USA handled its end. It was twisty, clever, well-plotted, character-driven with interesting characters, great acting, and an interesting premise that kept reinventing itself in brilliant ways.

If it were hair? I'd say Lively, no question. The actual actresses? Meeser, hands down. Lively's voice is "dead" sounding, she has no range and can barely elicit real emotion. She's always clearly "acting" and not very well more often than not. Meester, someone I was *not* impressed with on VM, 24, House or Shark, has blown me away. She is, far and away, THE best actor on that show and I think she has a real shot outside of GG if she were to get the right vehicle. She does subtle beautifully.
Will VERONICA MARS the movie reinvigorate the cause people have to make Kristen Bell a star?
Absolutely. And it will fail because she's not a star. She doesn't have star quality, she just happened to click with THE perfect role for her as Veronica circa season one, and moments of THAT Veronica in two and three. Furthermore, for some reasons she's convinced herself that acting like a smug, know-it-all bitch is great acting because more and more in season two and three that's how she acted, and she did the same on Heroes and that is what the role required in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I think she's incapable of fully stepping out of that smug mode as an actress now. She'd have to completely break down her acting style and start from scratch to find that brilliant actress she once was. And I don't think she she has the self-awareness to do so.

Life. It's the one show I can think of (and I've been thinking on this for a couple of minutes) that hooked me bar-none from that Pilot episode. Yeah, Life.

What was the first fandom you were really big into?

What are the fandoms you used to be a part of, but aren't any longer (either because you lost interest in the show, didn't have any time, fandom wars, etc.)?

What was the first fandom you were really big into?
Probably The X-Files.
What are the fandoms you used to be a part of, but aren't any longer?
- The X-Files -- it's no longer on, I loved the movies (especially the second), but it's mostly over, so nothing to feed the flames.
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer/ Xander & Buffy
- Firefly/Serenity
- Star Trek: Voyager/Paris & Torres
- Various soaps
- Veronica Mars/ Logan & Veronica
- Harry Potter/ Harry & Hermione
- X-Men/Logan & Rogue (first movie)

OT: But, eee! Ted Raimi!!!
