Moonlight, aka, JASON'S BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!
So watched Moonlight ... my thoughts behind the cut:

Random thoughts:

- First off, I don't like Jason's bangs. Too, I don't know, can't put my finger on it, but I don't like the style.

- I actually watched the whole episode (okay except for the OTT Mick/Beth beach scene in the beginning), it was pretty good. There really was a better flow and it was more interesting than past eps I watched. So yay.

- I do think AOL is getting better (he still does zip for me), but aside from Jason, it's really Sophia Myles that I like the most. I think she did a FABULOUS job with her final line: "You may have forever, but I don't." All in all, I just like her.

- Eric Winter is hot; I like Talbot.

- The vampire fight was pretty cool. I think they did a great job of really illustrating the difference in vampire fighting vs. human fighting. And I liked the cat in the beginning of the episode, because it added a tinge later on in this scene where it really came across as the vampires having a cat-like sound, intensity, agility when fighting (and I say this having three cats whom I've seen fight). I have to say that I'm really glad that they played it as rough as they did because knowing the spoilers (about Mick asking Josef to turn him), I thought beforehand, oh, if you ask nicely enough, Josef will go and kick vampire ass for you and you can still remain human and eat your Krispy Kremes (over-rated in my opinion, by the way). However, after seeing the fight, those three vamps probably would have been a bit much even for Josef just on his own.

- Of course, the main thing from this episode comes in two parts:

Josef going all vamp on Mick, scaring the bejesus out of him to prove a point. I'm actually one who isn't all that 'ooh, ahh' over the whole vampire thing, so that didn't do anything for me. However, I LOVED how Josef reacted when he was up close and personal and was resisting the urge to sniff Mick; it was so obvious that he was fighting the need and desire to just bite down.

Of course, he got that opportunity when Mick convinced him to turn him back.

And could they have filmed that scene to be more homoerotic? Seriously. I mean ... SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!! The leaning over, the ecstasy on their faces, the camera shots that made the two look like they were in an embrace, Josef laying down Mick, Josef pulling his jacket off ... it was just, wow, they actually went there in keeping the whole sexual aspect of the turning even though it was the two guys. So score Moonlight! I imagine that all of the Josef/Mick fans were in H-E-A-V-E-N. I don't know that a non-canon, hoyay! pairing that doesn't really exist in TV has ever gotten such a goodie from the actual show before.

Just heads up for anyone interested, the Jason clips from tonight's episode should be up tomorrow morning at the latest in this thread on my Jason board: A-Dohring Crowd.

That scene was so damn hot. I've never been a slash fan, but yowza. Mmmmmmm.....

I don't like Jason's hair like that either. And I kind of felt bad for him during the turning scene, because he was really putting his all in to it and it was great and emotional and all, but it just reminded me that Jason needs more realistic and better written material. The whole, "All you want is to be human!" thing, like we didn't get that memo a million times already, was redundant. They should have just had him shaking his head, looking horrified and muttering, "But..." and silence or something. You know?

Also, I love Jason dearly, but enough bottom teeth acting. And he needs to go easy on the smug smirk. Other than that, he is perfection.

It WAS hot. I'm not all slash-y, I'm all about the chemistry and if two guys have chemistry, okay, but I'm not finding slash/hoyay! every where I look. But that scene?!?! WOWZA!!!

Thank you, I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like it. It looked the worst in the first scene unfortunately. Hopefully, it will look much better already by the next episode because it didn't look as eh later on in this one.

Yeah, the dialogue was cheesy and lame. So, of course, the best part of the scene was the non-dialogue part and since AOL just kinda laid there it was mostly up to Jason to do the acting and, as usual, he delivered.

But, I must agree ... I noticed the bottom-teeth bit too and, well, I SHOULDN'T have, but I did. He does tend to fall back on that to portray, "My character is angry now." I almost wonder if Jason himself just doesn't get angry enough in real life all that often to accurately portray it as anything other than, well, you said it: "bottom-teeth acting." LOL!

Sigh, he does overdo the smug smirk, but when he has lame-ass dialogue, stick with what works, I guess.

Still, JASON!!!!!!!! I've missed him so. And that scene?!? Phew!

(I'm soo making more Josef icons this weekend. It's on my 'To Do List.')

Yeah, he's always done it (I think I remember being distracted by it most in VM 1.13) but he's falling back on it a lot more now. I kind of wish he didn't take some of the acting classes he took. I mean, I completely respect that he realized that he didn't have tons of experience and even though he was getting rave reviews, he STILL went and tried to better himself. That's awesome and I don't think a lot of actors in his situation would have done it, but I think the classes of resulted in subtle changes that I've noticed, and I just prefer him from before. Maybe it was just the Enrico classes that did it. I like Rico lots and I think he's good, but just because he's older and has a sitcom and movie under his belt doesn't mean he's great. He has a tendency to overreact and I don't want that rubbing off on Jason. He's certainly not there yet, but it's like one of my fears.

Yes, 'Lord of the Bling,' which ironically enough had some of his best acting, but I've never been particularly happy with how he does anger.

Hmm, that's a really interesting point about Enrico's classes. And I have to agree; I like Enrico, but he tends to do over-the-top now and then. Hopefully, despite all of his euphoric blather, Jason DOES realize that he doesn't have prime stuff to work with here and so is overcompensating a bit for it. When he gets great stuff again, he won't feel that need?

I was bored with most of the ep and then had about twenty orgasms in a row during that whole scene! *fans self* And I do ship Mick/Josef, so that was the best thing evah for me ;D

I hated Josef's hair, though. Especially in that first scene. Bleh.

Awww, I didn't think it was bad. Sorry you were bored; it's really not a great show and if you're not into Mick, or MickBeth, the true lameness of it shines through. But that scene was still worth sitting through the rest of it? Y/Y?

God, the bangs are DREADFUL, and totally do not work with Josef's character. At all. SNIP!

OMG so so homoerotic.
Arabian: Belbin & Agostoarabian on April 28th, 2008 12:27 pm (UTC)
They are, aren't they? Hopefully, we don't see that style ever agai.

Oh yes, homoerotic heaven, LOL!
